What is Nawgan?

Nawgan is a new, noncarbonated and low calorie beverage formulated to sharpen the mind.

What are the key ingredients in Nawgan?

Nawgan includes alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline, lycopene and d-alpha tocopherol acetate (natural vitamin E), and citicoline (Cognizin®).

Why is Nawgan important?

The development of Nawgan was based on three facts:

  1. Some of our basic thinking skills (e.g., memory, processing speed) decline in adulthood (by age 30).
  2. Research has shown that the levels of acetylcholine (from alpha-glyceryl phosphoryl choline), lycopene and d-alpha tocopherol also decline in adulthood.
  3. Low levels of these compounds are associated with poorer memory and thinking skills.

How were the ingredients in Nawgan selected?

We followed three important guidelines in selecting the basic formula for our beverage:

  1. Safety. The ingredients have an established record of safety for adults of all ages.
  2. Naturally part of the body. The supplements are natural and essential components of our body and brain. For example, we did not select gingko biloba because this compound is not a natural compound in our body (we don’t naturally need it or produce it) and because the research literature regarding gingko biloba as an aide to memory is not convincing (see DeKosky et al., 2008, Journal of the American Medical Association).
  3. Related to memory and thinking skills. Each ingredient in Nawgan is backed by scientific studies demonstrating a relationship between low levels and poorer thinking skills (this is true even for caffeine which is included in the naturally caffeinated version.).

How often should I drink Nawgan?

One can is the recommended daily use.

Will I feel an immediate effect on my memory or thinking skills?

The non-caffeinated Berry formula is based on the benefits of regular consumption over time so you may not feel an immediate effect. However, the caffeinated Red Berries and Tarocco Orange versions contains 100mg of natural caffeine, which is equivalent to a cup of coffee.

Are the ingredients natural?

Yes. We use natural ingredients, with no preservatives and no artificial sweeteners, colors or flavors.

What if my daily vitamin includes choline or vitamin E – would Nawgan be too much?

No. We have not included “mega doses” of any ingredient in Nawgan. We have included enough lycopene and vitamin E to help close the gap between recommended intake and average intake.

How many calories are in Nawgan?

45 calories per can for Red Berries and Tarocco Orange flavors and 40 calories per can for caffeine free Berry flavor.

How much citric acid is in Nawgan?

The pH level of Nawgan is 3.3 - much healthier than common soft drinks. The pH of Nawgan is healthier than cranberry juice and about the same as an apple.

Does Nawgan need to be chilled?

Nawgan is best when served chilled but it is not required.

Why is Nawgan red in color?

The lycopene in Nawgan provides a natural red color. Lycopene is the carotenoid compound that makes the tomato red.

Is the aluminum can safe?

Yes! Research studies have demonstrated that aluminum is safe and does not increase your risk of any disease. Inaccurate rumors regarding aluminum and Alzheimer’s disease are not supported by science – see this link from the Alzheimer’s Association regarding this myth:
http://www.alz.org/alzheimers_disease_myths_about_alzheimers.asp

Also, the cans produced for Nawgan are lined with a coating to ensure that the liquid does not produce any metallic flavor.

Are the beverages safe for children?

The ingredients in Nawgan are safe for children. However, we do not believe Nawgan is an appropriate treatment option for children with ADHD or any other developmental or medical condition. Parents concerned about their children’s cognitive status should consult their pediatrician before experimenting with any supplements.

Will the beverages upset my stomach like some medicines?

No. The ingredients were selected for safety and lack of side-effects.

Is Nawgan a treatment for Alzheimer’s disease or dementia?

No. Nawgan is not a drug and it is not intended to treat disease.

Should I continue medications currently prescribed by my physician?

Yes. Nawgan is not intended to replace any medicines. Always consult your physician before modifying your medications.
